昨天談到 The Shawshank Redemption 電影中的經典對話，有一句口語比較難懂  “it gets so you depend on them”。
電影中的實況對話是：
“I’m telling you these walls are funny. First you hate ’em. Then you get used to ’em. Enough time passes, gets so you depend on them. That’s institutionalized.”

我把原文的口語改成寫作用語：
 “I’m telling you these walls are funny. First you hate them. Then you get used to them. Enough time passes, it gets so you depend on them. That’s institutionalized.” 翻譯如下：
告訴你吧，那些高牆實在可笑。剛開始你恨死它們，然後你會逐漸習慣它們。時間久了，它們會征服你，最後你就依賴著它們而活。那就是所謂的 “體制化”。

“ gets so you depend on them”，這個 gets 是一種無奈地表達 “就這樣子”，
有 “it gets over you” 的含意 ( "那些牆" 用 it 概括，get over = overcome， “它們征服你”)，
或 "it gets you" 的味道 (get = arrest，逮住 )，因此，原句可引伸為：
It gets over you, so you depend on them. 或
It gets you, so you depend on them.

這部片軍校生一定要看，而且要把裡面的經典對話看懂，片中 Morgan Freeman 講的每一句話都值得玩味思索。

告訴你吧，那些高牆實在可笑。剛開始你恨死它們，然後你會逐漸習慣它們。時間久了，它們會征服你，最後你就依賴著它們而活。那就是所謂的 “體制化”。

“體制化”本身並沒有錯，因為那只是一種形式；錯在你把自己體制化，被體制化征服，用體制化的頭腦去做經營管理，最後把自己變得難溶於家庭與社會，這是許多軍中將領的悲哀。
