人生沒有用不到的經歷

如果你不曾在美國住過，或是你根本不曾出國，尤其是家庭環境不允許你這麼做，有一天突然遇到美國人，你可能不知道怎樣開口說第一句話，甚至連第一個字都吐不出來。

留學生早上一起床，日常生活的瑣事能說出去給人聽嗎？
刷牙，Brush my teeth.
洗臉，Clean my face.
吃早餐，Grab something to eat.
穿衣服，Put on a T-shirt.
這些英文字句，你準備很久了，但是到美國之後，可能通通用不上。
出了宿舍大門，你可能走到車站去搭校園巴士 (Shuttle bus)，然後遇上有點面熟，但又不十分熟的美國同學，也許曾在課堂上見過面，這時，話匣子怎樣打開？

其實，最好的方式是說 Hi，沒錯，就是 Hi ；你說，他也會說，信不信由你。
A: Hi, Good morning
B: Hi, Gu’ morning.
"天氣" 無疑是最好的開場對話，絕不會如你想像俗套；你不說將無話可說。

A: Uhm, a sunny day. (嗯，好個豔陽天)
B: Ya, cloudless sky. A nice day to go out. (是呀，萬里無雲，出去玩的好天氣)
A: So bad, we have classes. (真不幸，我們要上課。)
B: Ya, what class do you have today? (是呀，你今天有甚麼課？)
A: Biochemistry and Biostatitics. (生物化學及生物統計)
B: Oh, kind of hard. (歐，有點難耶)
A: Well, so far OK to me. And what’s yours? (唉呀，目前為止還好，你呢？)
B: Calculus, a make-up course for my under. And Biostatistics, same to you. (微積分，大學沒修，現在要補修；還有生物統計，和你一樣。under = undergraduate)
A: You take a lot of math courses this semester. (你這學期修不少數學課。math = mathematics)
B: Ya, I don’t want but I have to. (是呀，我也不想這樣。)
A: So, Do you take shuttle bus every day? (那你每天都坐校園公車嗎？)
B: No, I ride a bike sometimes. (不，有時騎自行車。)
A: Enjoy breeze and autumn red. (可以享受微風及秋景)
B: Ya, it’s beautiful on the way to graduate school. How about you? (是呀，往研究所這一路上都很美。那你呢？)
A: I stick to the shuttle. (我都搭校園公車。)
B: It’s very convenient. (校園公車很方便)
A: Here it comes ! (它來了！)
