人生沒有用不到的經歷

The Shawshank Redemption (刺激 1995) 的主角是 Tim Robbins 與 Morgan Freeman，當年只是為學英文而去看電影，這部片正是我寫文章批判軍醫那年在台灣上映。第一次在公館東南亞戲院看這部片時，我的文章剛丟出去，沒想到在昏暗的戲院中居然看到淚流滿面。這部片實在太吸引人了，我隨後又買票進戲院看了好幾次，每次看到越獄那段都會激動掉淚。兩個月後，我順利越獄退伍；六年後，軍人加入全民健保！

每次看這部片時，我都會仔細聆聽 Morgan Freeman (劇中的 Red) 講述 Tim Robbins (劇中的 Andy) 越獄的歷程，其中有兩段話十分精彩，當年買票進去看那麼多次，就是想聽 Morgan Freeman 陳述這兩段動人的文句。
其一：
Oh, Andy loved geology. I imagine it appealed to his meticulous nature. An ice age here, million years of mountain building there. Geology is the study of pressure and time. That's all it takes really, pressure, and time.

當 Morgan Freeman 用深刻的語調講出 “pressure, and time” 時，猶如一陣閃電突然穿過我的心臟。從那時到現在，我逐漸明白，不管你某個時期順與不順，人生的經歷都是 pressure and time 累積下來的，所有的人都一樣，我並沒比較壞或比較好；正如同地質的結構一樣，壓力越大，時間越長，花紋就越美。

其二：
Andy crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. Five hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.

“shit smelling foulness” 讓我想起當年軍醫的那些將軍，即便是現在，也有不少還是如此 smelling foulness。

Morgan Freeman在片中的全文如下：
In 1966, Andy Dufresne escaped from Shawshank prison. All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old rock hammer, damn near worn down to the nub. I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty. Oh, Andy loved geology. I imagine it appealed to his meticulous nature. An ice age here, million years of mountain building there. Geology is the study of pressure and time. That's all it takes really, pressure, and time. That, and a big goddamn poster. Like I said, in prison a man will do most anything to keep his mind occupied. Turns out Andy's favorite hobby was totin' his wall out into the exercise yard, a handful at a time. I guess after Tommy was killed, Andy decided he'd been here just about long enough. Andy did like he was told, buffed those shoes to a high mirror shine. The guards simply didn't notice. Neither did I... I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a man’s shoes? Andy crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to.
