在新病人的病歷上見到這麼一句 He passed tarry stool two days ago until he came to our ER. 問了病人纔知道：他到急診室時仍然在解 tarry stool (黑便).
He passed tarry stool two days ago until he came to our ER. 這句子有很大的問題，英文語意為: 病人至急診室時已無 tarry stool. 類似這種錯誤的用法履見於病歷中，建議改為
He passed tarry stool for two days and thus came to our ER.

用 two days ago，意思是兩天前解過黑便，無法表示到達急診室的現況，還得加一句描述到達急診室時仍在解黑便。
He passed tarry stool two days ago, and the stool remained black when he came to our ER.

不然你就用 start 或 begin
He started passing tarry stool two days ago and thus came to our ER.

Until 這字常出現於考試中，在 Until 前後的句子會相互否定，要小心，這個字就是那麼奇怪，所以不要亂用。

He passed tarry stool until taking Nexium for two days. 意思是：他服用 Nexium 兩天後不再解黑便。

start 與 begin 在上面的句子中差異不大.
begin passing tarry stool: passing tarry stool 本身是一個動名詞片語，
begin passing tarry stool 意思就是開始解黑便, 而且是一直解ing.
begin to pass tarry stool: "to" 有一點 "想要" 的意思.
begin to pass tarry stool: 意思比較偏向 "開始想要解黑便"，和病情就有點出入.
begin to vomit: 意思偏向 "開始想吐"
