衛福部官員的發言常令人捏一把冷汗，想著再過幾天是否又有人要下台了。

(疾管署副署長) 周志浩強調，由於伊波拉病毒是接觸性傳染，加上伊波拉在環境當中的毒性遠不如在人體當中，因此民眾毋庸過慮。他說：『(原音) 我們知道伊波拉病毒在人體裡面看起來好像致病性蠻強的，但是呢，伊波拉病毒它其實在環境當中，它並不是一個很頑強的一個病毒啦，所以說一般的這種消毒的話，大概都可以很有效的達到我們消毒的目的。』

重點是，伊波拉的接觸性傳染和愛滋病(HIV) 與病毒性肝炎(HBV, HCV)不同，伊波拉潛伏期病人說話、咳嗽與噴嚏的飛沫(Droplets)也具有高傳染性 (HIV, HBV, HCV 不會)，這才是伊波拉肆虐西非的主因。

美國國防部10/19採取另一波行動，成立一個30人的抗伊波拉醫療小組，協助美國民間新病例的緊急處理：

The Pentagon announced Sunday that it will create a 30-person team of medical experts that could quickly leap into a region if new Ebola cases emerge in the United States, providing support for civilian doctors who lack proficiency in fighting the deadly virus. -------Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered the Pentagon’s Northern Command, which has a prime focus on protecting homeland security, to send this new team to Fort Sam Houston in Texas for high-level preparations to respond to any additional Ebola cases beyond the three confirmed in the country. (美國境內已出現三個伊波拉病例，軍方出動支援以穩定美國人民不安的情緒)

Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma has announced a major shake-up of the body in charge of fighting the Ebola outbreak in the country.

He said his defence minister would head a new national response centre and report directly to him. The previous team was headed by the health minister.

Mr Koroma said people were dying and quick decisions had to be taken.
